Conservative Brampton MPPs refuse to join call for more resources for Brampton

QUEEN’S PARK – All Brampton MPPs have been invited to sign on to a joint call to provide Brampton — a COVID hotspot — with more resources to beat the virus; but the Conservative MPPs are refusing to sign.

NDP MPPS Sara Singh (Brampton Centre), Gurratan Singh (Brampton East) and Kevin Yarde (Brampton North) have reached out to Premier Doug Ford, Amarjot Sandhu, Conservative MPP for Brampton West and Prabmeet Sakaria, MPP for Brampton South concerning resources and help requested by Brampton that Doug Ford has refused to act on, including:

  • Guaranteed paid sick days, as demanded by Ontario’s Big City Mayors caucus, and Ford’s own Chief Medical Officer of Health
  • Asymptomatic testing in all Peel Region schools to identify COVID cases and stop community spread
  • Funding for a new Brampton hospital and the expansion of Peel Memorial, to address Peel’s chronically over-crowded and under-capacity hospital system now

“Our community does not need Doug Ford to smile for the cameras while he passes through town, they need a government to step up and help the hardest-hit communities stop the spread, stop the devastation and stop our families from losing our precious loved ones,” said NDP Deputy Leader Sara Singh.
